General Medicine
Weekly clinics are conducted in the Medical Corridor. Patients receive follow up care at this Specialty Clinic following discharge as well as referrals from Community Clinics and the Accident and Emergency Department and the Family Medicine Clinic.
Neurology Clinic
Weekly clinics are conducted in the Medical Corridor. Patients receive follow up care for Neurological conditions. Patients are seen following discharge from hospital as well as on a referral basis from the Community Clinics, the Accident and Emergency Department and the Family Medicine Clinic.
A Neurologist provides follow up care to clients with abnormality, disease or injury to the muscles and nervous system. Neurological exams, electroencephalogram (EEG), CAT Scan, and other examinations are performed in the treatment of these diseases.
Pediatric and Adult Neurology Clinics are held weekly with structured educational sessions provided at the clinics.

Pulmonology Clinic
Weekly clinics are conducted in the Medical Corridor. Patients receive follow up care for conditions of the chest, eg. Asthmatic conditions. Patients are seen following discharge from hospital as well as on a referral basis from the Community Clinics, the Accident and Emergency Department and the Family Medicine Clinic.

Hematology Clinic (Adult & Pediatric)
Weekly clinics are conducted in the Medical Corridor. Patients receive follow up care for conditions of the blood, eg. Sickle Cell Disease and other conditions of the blood. Patients are seen following discharge from hospital as well as on a referral basis from the Community Clinics, the Accident and Emergency Department and the Family Medicine Clinic.
Rheumatology Clinic
Weekly clinics are conducted in the Medical Corridor. Patients receive follow up care for conditions affecting the collagen vascular system. Patients discharged from hospital receive follow up care as well and can also be seen on a referral basis from the Community Clinics, the Accident and Emergency Department and the Family Medicine Clinic.

Gastro-enterology Clinic
A Gastro-enterologist provides treatment and follow up care to clients with diseases of the digestive system. Children and adults are seen at the clinic.

Cardiology Clinic
Provides initial and follow up care to clients with heart disease or related conditions. Diseases of the heart such as Coronary heart disease, Hypertensive heart disease, Rheumatic heart disease and Congenital heart disease. There are Pediatric and Adult Cardiology Clinics held. Education sessions are conducted at the clinics.

Infectious Diseases/ STI & Contact Surveillance Clinics
Medical Internists provide follow up care and education to patients with communicable diseases such as AIDS and Tuberculosis. This clinic is organized by the Department of Public Health. The department also provides Surveillance services and contact tracing where necessary. Counseling services are provided to clients at the clinic.

Oncology Clinic (Medical & Surgical)

The Government of the Bahamas in their increased efforts to ensure quality care to cancer patients, renovated the PMH Bahai Building, and commissioned it in 2009 as a new state-of-the-art Cancer Treatment Centre.
The new Oncology Centre is equipped with a nine (9) chair chemotherapy Unit, three (3) Examination rooms, a patient Waiting Area, its own pharmacy and laboratory area, a Resuscitation Room, and a state-of-the-art Conference Room for meetings and video conferencing.
The Oncology Services has a staff complement of 17, inclusive of medical oncologists, nursing staff, cancer registry, administrative and support staff.
The Oncology Clinic provides care to patients with cancer related conditions across the entire Bahamas. The Oncology Services is staffed with a cadre of professionals; Medical and Surgical Oncologists, Oncology Nurses, and a Cancer Registry.
Medical and Surgical Oncologists provide treatment and management to clients with cancer. Patients receive chemotherapy treatment at the clinic. Clients requiring radiation therapy are referred to the Medical Pavilion for further management. Medical and Surgical Oncology Clinics are conducted weekly at the Oncology Clinic. Gne-Oncology Clinics provide follow up care for clients with cancer of the genito-urinary system. The Haematology Clinics provide follow up care to patients with diseases of the blood related to cancer and other disorders.

Clinic Information For Patients
ALL Patients MUST be accompanied by a relative or friend at each clinic visit, particulary at the initial consultation. Upon arrival, the patient is to check-in at the front desk. This process includes registration, payment of fees. A receipt will subsequently be issued. Patients will be called from the waiting area to be assessed by a nurse and given a clinic number. Assessment includes the measuring of blood pressure, pulse rate and weight.
Once this is completed, the patient and a friend/ relative will be directed to one of the exam rooms (1, 2, and 3) where they will be seen by the physician. Upon completion of your consultation, you will again return to the assessment room where you will receive your next appointment and will be directed with regard to your investigations.

Chemotherapy Administration
Once you have been scheduled for chemotherapy, prior to commencing treatment you will receive an educational session by a nurse to inform you about what might be expected during your course of treatment, especially as it pertains to side effects, nutrition etc.
Laboratory Requirements
Blood work is requested the day before chemotherapy is administered. It is strongly advised that this be done as early as possible on that day to ensure that if they need to be repeated there is adequate time to do so.
If these investigations are done at a private laboratory the results should either be faxed to us or collected by you and brought in. If results are abnormal your treatment will have to be delayed.
The check in/registration procedure is the same for clinic visits except that treatment will be received in the infusion area.
During chemotherapy one individual is allowed to accompany the patient in to the infusion area.
Diagnostic Recommendations
Prior to clinic visits all patient’s results must be placed on their charts. This especially pertains to mammograms, bone scans, x-rays, CT scans and blood works. If for any reason the patient is seen by another physician, please bring all pertinent results, documents with you.

Medication Recommendations
Please remember to bring all of the medications you are currently taking with you to all clinic visits or treatments so that they can be properly documented and reviewed by your physician.
Medication during Chemotherapy
Remember to take all of your medication as you normally do during your chemotherapy unless otherwise advised by the Doctor.
Referral Procedure
ALL patients referred to the Oncology Centre MUST be accompanied by a referral letter. This should be accompanied by the results of all investigations (CT’s, MRI’s, Bone Scan, X-Rays, Pathology Reports etc.)
If you received your initial work-up or treatment abroad, you should be accompanied by a medical summary, including any treatment received and your progress to date.
If diagnosis and treatment was obtained in a non-English speaking country, the information MUST be dated and translated into ENGLISH, as we do not offer translation services.

Diabetic & Endocrinology Clinic
Medical Internists provide follow up care to clients with Diabetes and Diabetic related conditions. Adults and Children attend these clinics. Education sessions are provided at the clinics.

Nephrology/ Renal Clinic
The Nephrologist provides follow up care to clients with Renal Disease, Acute and Chronic Kidney disease. Clients receiving Haemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis treatment access follow up care at the clinic. These clients receive Dialysis treatment at the Dialysis Unit. Clients also receive follow up care for other renal conditions.

Dermatology Clinic
The Dermatology Clinic functions to prevent and control the spread of skin diseases through treatment and education.
